Festive issue out now!
An Overberg town interspersed
Nestled at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, lies Swellendam, the third oldest magisterial district (after Cape Town and Stellenbosch) in South Africa. It is known for its youngberries, architecture, rich history, beautiful nature scenes and outdoor activities. Today this historical town is a popular place to retire and serves as a retreat for many artists seeking peace and quiet.
...full of the joys of spring, we set off on a mission to explore and Experience Overberg – camping style! The Overberg is a pretty big region. It offers so many places as holiday destinations that we were hard-pressed to cover its length and breadth. Quite a task to explore the different possibilities - where to begin?
Celebrate with friends...Sunday Lunch festivities
Why wait to celebrate? Every season should be jolly and every blessing counted. Invite your friends and family over, keep it simple, focus on the laughter and...you are good to go!
Country Markets...where local is lekker
Tables in a kaleidesope of colours add life to all the Overberg markets - from carrots plucked from the earth at dawn, to freshly-baked bread and pies, sweet yellow mustard and sticky moreish jam. The simple country life can be found at the market where banter, tea and pancakes make the world a much brighter place.
Bot River Lagoon reflections
Surely the best way to bird spot is while floating in a boat.
Bot River lagoon is an important wetland...Home to a herd of feral horses that have adapted to life in marshy conditions and bird watching paradise - especially while gliding silently through the water.
Brace yourself this summer and choose
to adventure through the Overberg. Venture forth... Give it horns. It doesn’t matter whether you choose to
crawl, fly or glide, neither does it matter if you shriek scream or laugh.
Varied terrain, fabulous weather and something for everyone...

Family fun in the Overberg
Throughout the year, many children spend their days in front of the television or playing electronic games. But what about ‘the great outdoors’? How do we spend quality time as a family... in nature? Children are becoming increasingly disconnected from their natural surroundings and it is key to their emotional and physical well-being that they spend as much time in nature as possible.
One doesn’t necessarily have to go on a ‘groot trek’ or spend a fortune to spend quality time as a family..
